§ 90.121. Definitions.

  • In this article:

    Applicant means any individual, firm or corporation in the process of attaining either a license to operate or a city taxi driver permit.

    Driver means an individual who drives or operates a taxicab or pedicab.

    Holder means a person who is granted an annual operating permit to operate a taxicab service under the provisions of this chapter.

    Manifest means a daily record prepared by a taxicab driver of all trips made by the driver, showing time and place of origin, destination, number of passengers and the amount of fare of each trip.

    Operating permit means the permission granted by the city to operate a taxicab service inside the city for a period of one year, renewable under the provisions of this chapter.

    Pedicab means a device with three or more wheels propelled exclusively by human power exerted through a belt, chain, or gears capable of carrying a driver and one or more passengers on a platform made a part of the device.

    Pedicab service means a ground transportation service operated for hire that uses pedicabs in the operation of the service and includes, but is not limited to. a facility from which the service is operated, pedicabs used in the operation of the service and a person who owns and/or operates said service.

    Rate card means a card for display in each taxicab which contains the rates of fare in force.

    Taxicab means a motor vehicle regularly engaged in the business of carrying passengers for hire and not operated on a fixed route, other than a limousine.

    Taxicab business means a service consisting of the provision and operation of motor vehicles for hire which carry passengers and are not operated on a fixed route, and does not include limousine services.
