§ 86.261. Definitions.

In this division:

Apartment house means a collection of family residences grouped together in one building, each family residence being a section of the building.

Boardinghouse means a place where one obtains food or lodging or both in another's house for a stipulated price.

Commercial users includes all business places or establishments where wares and merchandise are bought, sold, handled or disposed of for profit or time and labor used for profit, including office buildings.

Connection means each and every joining of a sewer line leading from any building or structure with a part of the city sanitary sewer system, provided that if there are two or more buildings or structures on the same lot or adjoining lots and their respective sewer lines join on that lot or either adjoining lot and one line joins the city sanitary sewer system, each building or structure is considered as having a separate connection to the city sanitary sewer system.

Family means any number of individuals living together as a single household unit.

Family residence means a building or section of a building served by one water meter and used exclusively as living quarters. A building with living quarters located on the same premises and used in connection with the family residence for which no rental money is received and which is used by the owner or occupant of the family residence for family purposes only is not considered a separate living unit, but the fixtures in the building shall be counted in computing the monthly charge made against the main residence.

Industrial wastes means the liquid or other character of wastes resulting from any commercial manufacturing or industrial operations or processes other than sanitary sewage, which waterborne or liquid wastes enter the city sewer system or any portion thereof.

Plumbing fixture means a water closet, bathtub, separate shower, lavatory, urinal, kitchen sink, household laundry, drain of any type or other similar receptacle that discharges wastes into the sewer system.

Roominghouse means a house or building where there are two or more bedrooms rented to persons for lodging.

Sanitary sewage means the waste from water closets, urinals, lavatories, sinks, bathtubs, showers, household laundries, basement floor drains, garage floor drains, storerooms, soda fountains, cuspidors, refrigerator drips, fountains and stable floor drains and all other similar fixtures and receptacles that discharge wastes into the sewer system.
